The PRIMA project SaFood4Med (Innovative and Safe Antimicrobial Bioplastics for Food Preservation in the Mediterranean Area) participated in the first edition of the Local Industrial Production Exhibition held at the University of Mohamed Khider Biskra on April 20, 2026.
The project was represented by the Responsible of UMKB Unit, Tarek Benmeddour, highlighting the importance of strengthening the connection between scientific research and industrial application in the field of sustainable agri-food innovation.
A dedicated stand was reserved for SaFood4Med project and presented by two student-led startup initiatives. The stand showcased innovative solutions for the valorization of agri-food waste and the development of sustainable bio-based packaging materials for food preservation, demonstrating the potential of transforming research outcomes into practical and entrepreneurial applications.
The exhibition brought together more than 30 companies, startups, researchers, and academic stakeholders, creating an important space for dialogue and collaboration between the university and the industrial sector. The event, supervised by Zouhair Dibi, also featured several enterprises founded by university graduates, reflecting the growing role of innovation and entrepreneurship within the local ecosystem.
SaFood4Med’s participation in the exhibition contributed to promoting technology transfer, supporting student entrepreneurship, and encouraging sustainable innovation pathways aligned with circular economy principles and the development of resilient agri-food systems in the Mediterranean area.
