Welcome to SaFood4Med
Innovative and safe antimicrobial bioplastics for food preservation in the Mediterranean area
At SaFood4Med, we’re pioneering a revolution in food preservation and packaging. By transforming agri-food waste into advanced antimicrobial bioplastics, we are addressing critical global challenges like food waste, sustainability, and environmental impact. Discover how we’re reshaping food systems and making a difference for a greener, safer tomorrow.

SaFood4Med PROJECT
Our mission is to create a digitally assisted circular value chain across the Mediterranean, enabling local farmers, industries, and communities to thrive. Through cutting-edge technology and eco-efficient processes, we aim to extend food shelf life, reduce chemical treatments, and promote a carbon-neutral economy—all while protecting the environment and supporting smallholders.
Our Mission
SAFOOD4MED’s primary focus is on pioneering an innovative and economically viable paradigm: the establishment of an affordable, decentralized biorefinery ecosystem that empowers small-scale farmers through the conversion of food waste into state-of-the-art antimicrobial bioplastics.
