On 16 February 2026, the University Mohamed Khider Biskra (UMKB), Algerian partner of the PRIMA-funded project SAFOOD4MED, welcomed EU experts for an institutional visit dedicated to research valorization mechanisms and innovation governance.
During the visit, the UMKB Project Manager:
- Presented the full architecture of SAFOOD4MED
- Showcased laboratory equipment and biomass processing infrastructure
- Detailed national mechanisms for technology transfer and startup creation
- Presented examples of innovation projects and success cases.
Research Valorization and International Visibility
The institutional exchange allowed EU experts to assess:
- Scientific capacity and laboratory readiness
- Alignment with European sustainability and circular economy strategies
- Technology transfer governance at university level
- Market-oriented potential of antimicrobial bioplastics
The visit strengthened SAFOOD4MED’s positioning within the Euro-Mediterranean innovation ecosystem and reinforced its contribution to:
